Ripley Vet Hospital, QLD
If it not for sits, why is it made of warm?
Job titleBox Inspector
My clinic dutiesBetween Meika and I, we do most of the work around here. My duties include equipment maintenance (mostly keeping the lab equipment and the autoclave warm!) and food taste tester. Meika tends to ensure that all of our patient warming devices are working, checking patients beds for comfort levels and providing comic relief to the staff.
My favourite thingsMy favourite thing is breakfast. Oh, and dinner! I really love breakfast and dinner. The nurses have put me on a thing called a 'diet' because they say I'm a "hefty chonker". Meikas favourite things would have to include playing Hide n Seek, climbing into very high and awkward positions (and sometimes getting stuck, much to my amusement!) and greeting all the patients!
My naughtiest habitMy naughtiest habit would be how I pretend to be really lovely so I get lots of pats and attention from my staff and then out of nowhere, I bite them! I find that to be such a fun game and I think the humans enjoy it too?! Meika's naughtiest habit is stealing wet food from patients (I can't get away with it because of my diet but Meika cleans up all the patients licky mats when they're done and everyone just pretends they don't see her doing it!)
What makes me an important part of the team?Well, we don't think this team could function without us really! Who would clean up the food scraps? Who would do the equipment maintenance? Who would make the team laugh? Who would give the team cuddles on sad days? We're the most essential part of the team, we're the glue that holds this team together!
Other things you should know about me
I was abandoned before the team at RVH had me. I was locked in a house for a week with no food or water and no people to love me. Thankfully I hit the jackpot when I found my new family. I love the attention I get being the number one (sorry Meika!) clinic cat. I also love meeting new clients (especially if you come bearing bearing food).
Meika was found as a kitten on our bosses farm just before the clinic opened. Her love for dogs and cats makes her a great clinic cat (not as good as me, but close!) as she is always keen to welcome foster kittens to our adoption program or to comfort a patient during an anaesthetic!
If you're ever in the clinic, keep your eyes peeled for us, usually you can spot us working hard out the back somewhere!
