And Australia’s BEST Dermcare Dog is…

Last December, Dermcare began the search for a new canine companion to be a fresh face on the website. We were searching for the dog with a cute face, a love for being washed with Dermcare shampoo and a dog with a great story.

With over 50 fantastic nominees, the decision was not an easy one! In the end we did have one particularly deserving winner.

With an influx of votes, lots of foster caring and a very sweet soul, the winner is…

Moon, from Western Australia!

Moon spends many days with his mum (who works as a veterinary nurse at Warwick Vet Hospital), helping care for foster puppies and kittens. He loves his Malaseb washes, and makes a great brand ambassador for Dermcare!Moon will take part in a photoshoot later this year, and become the new Dermcare Dog on our homepage! Congratulations Moon!

The Dermcare team visits Soi Dog

Last week a team of seven nurses and one vet from Dermcare flew to Thailand to visit Soi Dog Foundation. The foundation is based in Phuket, but has mobile units throughout Thailand, and rescue many pets from the dog meat trade in north Thailand.

The team took over donations for the animal hospital, and were lucky enough to get a tour of both the shelter and their new hospital facility. Soi Dog has a vaccination and desexing program, which has led to Phuket being rabies free and over 80% of the street dogs there are now desexed. The foundation is run entirely on donations, and rehomes 90% of their adoption animals overseas.

Our team spent their time at Soi Dog washing the ‘Old Age Pensioners’, examining tricky skin cases and socialising both the rescue dogs and cats. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and a few can’t wait to head back and volunteer again one day.

Like the sound of donating or volunteering? To find out more about the great work that Soi Dog does throughout Thailand, and their rehoming of animals all over the world- visit https://www.soidog.org/.

Three days of training and group activities flew by, and it was time to part ways and put their extended knowledge into action. Our rep team provides direct support to metro, regional and remote vet clinics all over Australia. In order to ensure the best chance of happy, healthy patients; we continuously train our team, who are then able to train your local veterinary clinic staff.

Dermcare at ASAVA 2016

From the 8th August until the 12th August 2016, ASAVA Conference was underway at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. The ASAVA conference is an annual, national veterinary conference focussed on small animals, and was attended by vets from all around Australia!

This year, Dermcare hosted the first annual ‘Scrub Run’. Just over 30 vets braved the cool, early morning to watch the sunrise and run/ walk 2.5km or 5km in their scrub tops!

Congratulations to all who participated! We can’t wait to see those scrub tops worn in-clinic. An extra special congratulations goes out to our front runners:

5km winner: Adam Heeley

5km runner-up: Bill Perry

2.5km winner: Emily Ireland

2.5km runner-up: Victoria Bartley

We look forward to an even bigger and better ‘Scrub Run’ at FASAVA 2017!

Not only did the Dermcare team attend the conference, so did some of our pets! Team Pomeranian provided some lunchtime entertainment to the crowd, showing off their agility skills in tiny, pom-sized scrub tops! Gizmo, Yogi, Tim-Tam and Rebel were such good sports, even posing with fans after the event!

A few more Dermcare dogs volunteered their time (and some of their fur!) to help vets hone their ultrasounding skills once the conference was over! Gracie, Shelby, Ned, Missy, Hudson and Malia got lots of big cuddles and extra treats for their fantastic behaviour throughout the course! A big thanks to Liina and Toby, plus Jess and Claudia, for also giving up their time to help!

We had a great time at ASAVA 2016, and can’t wait to see lots of new and familiar faces at FASAVA 2017! Vets, be sure to check out our competition to win registration to FASAVA 2017 on the VET section of the website!
